Financial Reporting Lead
Job Summary
The Financial Reporting Lead will work closely with department management, senior accountants and financial analysts to perform key accounting functions such as recurring STAT and GAAP close processes, account reconciliations, and preparation of SEC filings. This position will also be involved in recommending process improvements and supporting financial reporting and analysis within the department and across the organization. This role reports to the Controller. The Financial Reporting Lead will be expected to gain an understanding of and participate in a range of accounting and financial reporting processes.
This position is located at our corporate office is Marietta, PA. Preferred candidates will reside in areas surrounding the Marietta, PA office.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in performing procedures to ensure accurate and complete financial records are prepared and maintained for all activities of the company
- Prepare and review general ledger entries
- Prepare and assist in review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on a STAT and GAAP basis, as applicable
- Assist in preparation of required Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filings
- Prepare and ensure timely submissions of regulatory filings with insurance departments
- Assist in performing and designing regular control procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
- Provide timely and accurate records to internal and external auditors
- Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting and financial reporting processes, systems and procedures to support efficiency and accuracy
- Actively participate in project teams as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of three years of accounting and financial management experience required, at least five years preferred
- Insurance industry experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field required
- CPA Designation preferred
The base pay is just one component of Donegal's total compensation package for employees. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
